Starting Off on the Right Foot with Your New Kitten
You just got a new kitten! What an exciting time. They are so cute and entertaining. Hopefully, you planned in advance before you brought them home and they settled in well and are learning to live with all of the new sights, sounds, people, and other pets in your home. You have also been careful to kitten proof your home to prevent many unwanted accidents that might happen. Great! You’re off to a wonderful start. Now what? What should you do next?

But, you also say, my kitten is healthy and the breeder/store/person that we got the kitten from said she had all of the shots that she needs (or she’s up to date on shots). And my response is, yes, you should take your new kitten to the vet sooner rather than later and this is not just because I’m a veterinarian. While it may be true that your kitten’s shots are up to date, it’s still important to go see the veterinarian sometime in the week after you bring her home for several reasons.
